The Writing Autobiography

Hi my name is Ebrahim  and I'm from Bowie, Maryland.I'm currently majoring in History and plan to go on to medical school in order to become a doctor. I  guess I chose History because I like learning about the backgrounds of different people and places.Finding the similarities and the differences amongst them is particularly interesting. From my experience as a History major I hope to gain a unique perspective in the future as a doctor and possibly help in changing  present medical/clinical approaches.
I like writing, but I love reading more.I usually have no problem coming up with ideas, though often times I sidetrack. The hard part comes when I have to conform to the rules of writing.Often times I forget certain rules and what I write on paper does not mirror how I wanted my original thoughts to be set.So organization, I think, is one of my biggest issues.I took honors and AP English Courses in high school and I remember always being told to make sure I understand and answer every part of the prompt. I think that if this course is going to be focused on argumentation it will be somewhat like my AP courses but still interesting.

  1. Hi Ebrahim :) I have to tell you I like your name its very unique. I give you props for actually loving history because it is deff my enemy big time! haha But your reasoning behind it is very understandable. I also completely agree with the whole "rule" thing. It drives me nuts too.

  2. Hey Ebrahim! I think it's awesome that you're a history major. I loved history in high school, especially when we learned about ancient cities like Greece or Rome. The fact that you want to go to med school makes everything so much more awesome. Also, I love to read too, but most of the reading I do is all those guilty pleasure books, like Gossip Girl or Twilight (although I'm kind of over the whole craze). See you in class!

  3. Hi, Ebrahim! I think your History skills will come in handy in this class. The great thing about writing and reading is that they go hand in hand -- the more you read, the easier it is to spot clear, effective (this is an important term) writing, and the more you write and become aware of the process, the better reader you become. We'll definitely be working on organization and staying focused on the question at hand as well. Write on!

  4. Hi Ebrahim. I never would have thought to be a history major with the intention of becoming a doctor. That is so unique and will be a very useful mix. I think that this class will help train us to plan our papers out before we write them. I think that this will help because I have similar problems with my writing. Good luck!
